Designing the Beat Mode Feature for We Vibe App

Project Overview

This case study explores the design and development of the Beat Mode feature for the We Vibe app, a companion app for adult toys. As a UI/UX designer, I was tasked with creating a seamless integration between the toy controls and an audio player, allowing users to enjoy a synchronized and immersive experience.

Challenges and Solutions

• Combining Controls: The primary challenge was to merge toy controls and audio player controls into a single, intuitive interface. By carefully considering the layout and placement of elements, we were able to create a cohesive and user-friendly design.
• Color Palette Constraints: While the brand book dictated the primary color palette, we needed to introduce complementary colors to visualize equalizer beats effectively. Through careful experimentation, we identified colors that enhanced the overall aesthetic and provided a clear visual representation of the audio.
• Album Cover Integration: Incorporating album covers into the interface provided a familiar and intuitive visual cue for users. This eliminated the need for extensive onboarding and allowed users to quickly understand the feature.
• Dual Motor Compatibility: Ensuring compatibility with toys featuring dual motors and separate controls required careful consideration of the user interface. We designed a solution that allowed users to control each motor independently without overwhelming the interface with unnecessary toggles or buttons.

Key Design Decisions

• Intuitive Layout: The interface was designed to prioritize clarity and ease of use. Controls were placed strategically to minimize confusion and facilitate a smooth user experience.
